The Jack Warner Estate in Benedict Canyon

From the 1920s until television was introduced in the 1950s, Hollywood studio czars built lavish mansions on expansive estates to display their wealth and power. None, however, could rival Jack Warner's Benedict Canyon estate in terms of grandeur and glamour.

Jack Warner, co-founder and former president of Hollywood entertainment giant Warner Bros, began the 94.4 acre property as three acres of farmland before slowly expanding it to become what is now, an elaborate Golden Age of Hollywood estate featuring an exquisite Neo-Georgian mansion with expansive terraces, gardens, two guesthouses, two guesthouses, nurseries, three hothouses, tennis court, swimming pool, nine hole golf course service garage parking court compound offering maximum privacy with tall hedges surrounding its perimeter and access controlled via gate from outsiders.

In the 1930s, Warner utilized his estate for extravagant parties attended by movie stars and moguls such as Howard Hughes. However, there were challenges associated with its use as well; Warner was an abusive tycoon who frequently pursued his own interests at the expense of employees who displease him; this infuriated employees who worked under him but pleased him no end; furthermore he appeared before the House Un-American Activities Committee to accuse members of his staff as communists, ruining careers thereby. Furthermore he wasn't faithful to Ann Page and had several mistresses over his lifetime!
